POSITION TITLE: Staff Accountant
REPORTS TO: Assistant Controller
DIRECT REPORTS: None
LOCATION: Englewood, CO (Hybrid Role)
FLSA: Exempt
PURPOSE
This role will support our Assistant Controller, having responsibility for general accounting responsibilities, including bank reconciliations, recording of fixed assets, assisting in the month-end close processes, posting journal entries, account reconciliations, prepare documentation for external auditors, and other relevant accounting duties. The Staff Accountant will be a part of the VASA Accounting team and will work in partnership with all members of the team, supporting them as needed. DELIVERABLES
The deliverables for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Prepare daily bank reconciliation to general ledger accounting system
· Prepare and post related journal entries and prepare supporting documentation during normal course of business
· Maintain fixed asset records including, but not limited to entering fixed assets into the system, preparation of fixed asset journal entries, and reconciliation of general ledger to fixed asset system
· Assisting with providing support to external auditors as part of the year-end audit and all other audits as required
· Complete month-end balance sheet reconciliations
· Adhering to the month-end close schedule and communicating progress or set-backs to the rest of the team in a timely manner
· Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting financial data
· Assisting with streamlining and/or implementing departmental systems and processes
· Communicating with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner
· Conforming with and abiding by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions
· Ad hoc projects as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
· 0 – 2 years of hands-on accounting experience
· Strong understanding of accounting theory, GAAP, and general ledger
· Proficient use of MS Office Suite, specifically Excel required
· Must be organized, flexible, and detail-oriented
· Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
· Ability to coordinate several projects at once
· Ability to constantly prioritize and re-prioritize activities based on changing needs
· Ability to work with high level of integrity, positive attitude, and with little supervision
· Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
· Service and team-oriented, with keen attention to detail
COMPENSATION
$50,000 - $60,000 salary (depending on experience)
