A Letter from our CEO – Health and Safety Update

Dear Valued VASA Members,

On behalf of all of us here at VASA, I want to thank you for your diligence in adhering to the precautions we have put in place to keep everyone in our fitness community safe from Covid-19. Every day, we see you in the clubs wearing masks, wiping down equipment and being respectful of each other by social distancing. We’re all in this together and we simply couldn’t do it without you!

We’d like to take this opportunity to also remind you of our safety procedures, all of which have been put into place to keep everyone safe and our doors open. We recognize that our members’ gym experience is a very different one from before the pandemic and again we appreciate your continued flexibility and patience as we navigate these uncharted waters together.

VASA’s Safety Guidelines to Keep Staff and Members Safe

Today, all members inside our clubs are required to sign our Member Agreement outlining our guidelines and requiring that members follow our social distancing rules, follow cleanliness protocols, stay home if they have symptoms or have been exposed to Covid-19, and wear face coverings as instructed by local health officials. We all share responsibility in this and will continue to enforce our Member Agreement requirement.

We will also continue to limit capacity and maintain monitoring of our social distancing guidelines. As you know, every other cardio machine is turned off and a floor attendant monitors all exercise areas to discourage close-proximity workouts. The best way to book your desired workout time is through our app for iOS and Android. Use your mobile device not only to book your workouts, but for touchless and safe check-ins as well.

Our basketball courts, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and KidCare services will remain closed and the pools will continue to be open for one swimmer per lane. We’ll continue to close off the showers and changing rooms but will continue to allow use of the restrooms. Group fitness, Studio and Team classes will continue with a limited capacity in the rooms, and aquatics group classes are on hold for the time being.

You may have also noticed that VASA staff members wear face coverings at all times and team members who have any symptoms are sent home, encouraged to get a Covid-19 test and asked to report the test results back to us. If a test comes back positive, we immediately notify the county health department which investigates each case and provides us with detailed guidance in determining next steps.

After clubs close each night, a professional cleaning company does a deep clean in every club but we also clean the facility every hour – we sanitize frequently-touched surfaces and equipment multiple times a day in addition to providing extra disinfecting wipes in all locations and encouraging members to clean machines before and after use.

How You Can Help

Together, we’re doing a great job! Please take this opportunity to revisit general safety guidelines for visiting VASA:

  • Stay home if you don’t feel well.
  • Book your gym appointment ahead of time via our app and use your mobile device for touchless check-in.
  • Keep a distance of at least 6 feet between you and all others at all times.
  • Wipe down equipment with sanitizing wipes provided by VASA before and after use.
  • Wear a mask in the gym in accordance with your local health guidelines.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after visiting the restroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, sneezing or touching your face.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Alert VASA if you have tested positive for Covid-19 and have been to the gym recently.

Again, thank you for your patience and cooperation as we navigate these uncertain times. Together, we can continue to keep VASA a safe and thriving fitness community!

With gratitude,

Rich Nelsen, VASA CEO
